FuN FrIdAy!
We had a great second week of "Fun Friday"! Our station rotations for the morning included: Cooking "short a" cinnamon sugar toast (the students chose a cookie cutter with the short a sound to cut out their toast), iTouch phonics and math games, community helper spin wheels, Base Ten Block stamping, and following directions to make a firehouse dog. It was a great morning in First Grade! :)

Police Officer Major Keven Wiles Visits 1st Grade
We have been learning about being a good citizen in our community and the helpers that make our community work. On Tuesday of this week the first graders were able to learn all about a police officer's duties and how they serve Bowling Green. The students also learned a lot about a police officer's uniform and even got to hear the siren on the police car! "Thank you" Major Wiles for visiting 1st grade!

1st day of 1st Grade
We had such a great 1st day of school today! Thank you so much to all the parents and families that sent in supplies for our classroom. All of the kiddos seemed very excited to be back at school and to see their friends. We learned a lot about the procedures and rules of the classroom and our school. We also watched a special bus video about bus saftey. In the afternoon we read a story about families. We started a project about our own families that we will finish this week. Some of our friends also shared their "Me Bags". Griffin, Cade, Audrey, Olivia, and Jackson all shared their bags and I LOVED learning the new things about them!
The first official day of recess with no playgroud was a success! The students played with frisbees, jump ropes, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and balls. Although we missed the old playground we talked about how cool it was that we would get to have different places for recess on different days! :) They loved seeing their friends from other classes and getting to talk to them as well!
Thank you all so much again for you support and for sharing you child with me!
